Planning Sand and Laterite Deliveries in Akoka, Yaba
By Pamitadz Nigeria Limited
Ordering a truckload is only part of arranging a material delivery. The driver also needs the correct entrance, a receiving contact and a suitable unloading point. For a campus or busy urban site in Akoka, Yaba, agreeing these details before dispatch helps your team prepare for the arrival.
Two deliveries, two different materials
Pamitadz delivered 20 tonnes of sharp sand and 20 tonnes of laterite to the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba. The photograph below shows the sharp sand delivery; the separate video shows laterite. These examples illustrate actual deliveries, rather than a recommendation that every project needs the same quantity or material.

1. Specify the material before requesting a price
Write down whether the order is for sharp sand, plaster sand, laterite or another specified fill. A request for “sand” alone leaves room for misunderstanding. State the intended task and share the project specification where available. Sharp sand and laterite are different materials; the delivery examples above do not make them interchangeable.
Read our sharp sand guide and laterite and filling sand guide. Your project team should approve material selection and any required testing.
2. State the quantity and unit clearly
Ask for a written quotation that specifies tonnes or cubic metres, rather than simply “one tipper”. Trucks can have different capacities. If ordering by weight, agree what weight documentation will be provided. A photograph of a heap can show appearance and delivery activity, but cannot prove its weight.
For filling work, have the project team calculate the area, depth and allowance required for the specified compaction. Do not treat loose delivered volume as identical to finished compacted fill.
3. Confirm the entrance and receiving arrangements
Send the full address, a location pin and the correct entrance. For a campus delivery, ask your receiving contact to check entry requirements with the relevant site or campus personnel. Do not assume a truck can use every gate or enter at any time.
- Share the receiving contact’s number with the delivery team.
- Confirm any permitted delivery times or vehicle restrictions.
- Explain gate fees or entry charges before the quote is finalised.
- Flag narrow turns, overhead obstructions or access limitations.
These are planning checks, not claims about a particular University of Lagos gate policy. Obtain the current requirements for your actual destination.
4. Agree a safe unloading point
Have the site team identify suitable ground and enough room for the vehicle and unloading operation. Keep the agreed area available and avoid placing a material heap where it blocks the site entrance or pedestrian route. If several loads are required, plan the sequence so the next truck can still reach its unloading point.
The driver and responsible site personnel should assess the actual unloading conditions. A location pin alone does not confirm that a tipper can safely unload there.
5. Keep the order and delivery records together
- Check the written quote for material, quantity, delivery address and included charges.
- Confirm payment instructions through Pamitadz’s official contact.
- Keep loading photographs or video and the truck details with the order.
- Have your receiving contact compare the arriving load with the order and record concerns promptly.
- Retain the receipt and delivery note for your project records.

What should you send for a quick quote?
Send the material, quantity and unit, site location and preferred date. Add any entry restrictions, gate fees or unloading instructions. Pamitadz can then discuss the delivery arrangements and provide a quote for the actual request.
